This Privacy Policy describes how mono handles your information when you use our audio recording application.
Data Storage
All your data stays on your device. mono is designed with privacy in mind:
- Audio recordings are stored locally on your computer
- Transcriptions and summaries are saved locally
- Application settings are stored locally
- We do not operate servers that store your personal data
Audio Recording
mono captures audio from applications and microphones on your device. This audio is:
- Saved only to your local storage
- Never uploaded to our servers
- Under your complete control to delete at any time
AI Features
By default, mono uses local AI models for transcription and summarization. All processing happens on your device with no data transmitted externally.
- Local AI models (default): All processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent anywhere.
- Cloud AI providers (optional): If you choose to configure a cloud provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.), relevant data is sent to that provider according to their privacy policies.
You choose which AI provider to use. If you configure a third-party service, we recommend reviewing their privacy policy.
Google Calendar Integration
mono offers optional Google Calendar integration to help you prepare for meetings. When enabled:
- We request read-only access to your calendar
- We only read upcoming meeting titles and times
- Calendar data is used locally to display meeting notifications
- We do not store, share, or transmit your calendar data to any server
- You can disconnect your calendar at any time in Settings
Data We Collect
We do not collect personal data. The app operates entirely on your device. We do not have access to:
- Your recordings
- Your transcriptions or summaries
- Your calendar events
- Your usage patterns
Third-Party Services
The app may interact with third-party services only when you explicitly configure them:
- AI Providers: Only when you add an API key and use AI features
- Google Calendar: Only when you connect your account
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Data Security
Your data security depends on your device security. We recommend:
- Using device encryption
- Keeping your operating system updated
- Using strong passwords
Children Privacy
mono is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the Last updated date.
